Job Title: Tower Technician II (MODS)
Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Summary:
Tower Technicians support all aspects of tower installations, including antennas and transmission lines, performing construction duties from the foundation to the erection of lattice towers, monopoles, and guyed towers. The Tower Technician II (MODS) troubleshoots alarms/RSSI issues at sites using supplied sweep gear, and run jumpers, devises jumper connections with knowledge from connector training, and completes required equipment and supply paperwork. This role requires climbing communications structures, including guyed, self-supporting monopoles, building/rooftops, grain silos, etc., and performing safety, defects, and quality audits.
Responsibilities:
Perform electrical and mechanical down tilts to a variety of antennas using supplied antenna controller units
Follow daily instructions and fill out required paperwork and printouts
Lead lower-level employees and work closely with others as a team player
Install coaxial cable on towers, rooftops, or any structure
Identify cable color code by seeing the full-color spectrum
Utilize working knowledge of Microwave equipment and PIM troubleshooting
Provide expertise in fiber testing, grounding installations, tower demolition, tower stripping, and painting
Travel within a designated region and work in confined spaces and harsh weather conditions
Abide by the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy and use a personally-owned cell phone for business purposes
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
3+ years of related experience
Valid state-issued driver's license
Certified Tower Climber via Gravitec Systems, Inc. or ComTrain
Rescue certification
Familiarity with Anritsu and/or OSHA certification
Knowledge of standard knots, UMTS, and 4G
Ability to climb while carrying tools and equipment up to 60 pounds
Physical Demands:
Lift up to 60 pounds
Climb and crawl in ladder racking if necessary
Work in confined spaces
Endure harsh weather conditions
