Job Description

Duties

  • Patrols the installation on foot or in vehicles; responds to alarms, irregularities, and unusual or suspicious circumstances; and investigates the incidents.
  • Enforces traffic rules and regulations, including those related to speed, reckless and drunken driving.
  • Appears in court to testify as required in Military Courts Martial or Federal and State Court proceedings.
  • Provides sworn testimony based on the investigative process, evidence gathered, witness’ statements in criminal and traffic courts.
  • Investigates accidents, summons rescue squads and firefighters, and redirects onlookers from scene.
  • Performs flight armorer duties, responsible for overseeing the appropriate arming of fellow police officers and MWD units.
  • Determines the proper course of action and plans, coordinates, initiates, and takes actions necessary to resolve the complaint or inquiry.
  • Analyzes and resolves conflicting testimony or evidence from witnesses through fact-finding until evidence to support a legal or administrative decision can be made.
  • Prepares reports of investigation in accordance with appropriate guidelines; also assembles and forwards reports of investigation for higher headquarters review.
  • Prepares summaries of testimony when appropriate, including the preparation of all letters, messages, memoranda, and briefings, with accompanying visual aids.
  • Serves as the primary command and control (C2) function for all Integrated Defense forces.
  • Executes the Quick Reaction Checklists (QRC) to ensure proper execution of routine, emergency, and alarm responses.
  • Receives, interprets, evaluates, and immediately decide what action is appropriate and implement that course of action.
  • Monitors the installation alarmed facilities, which are linked to the primary monitor site.
  • Coordinates with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, fire, rescue, and emergency units.
  • Executes emergency response procedures designed to isolate, contain, and defeat hostile actions and restore normal operations as quickly and efficiently as possible.
  • Establishes initial command and control as others react to neutralize threats, secure resources, personnel, and property.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Incumbent must wear a DAF Police Officer uniform as identified in the DAF Police AFI and required to meet dress and appearance standards when supporting non-DoD agencies IAW the AFI.
  • Must wear approved protective clothing such as body armor/ballistic plates, helmets, personal protective equipment, coats, boots, traffic vests and/or chemical protective equipment, (e.g., respirator mask).
  • Incumbent must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to operate all security forces vehicles and installed equipment.
  • The incumbent must obtain and maintain qualifications and/or certifications as identified by the hiring official of all equipment and tools necessary to safely perform the duties of the position.
  • Incumbent must qualify and remain qualified in the use of required weapons, as the incumbent will be required to use firearms in performing duties.
  • This position has been identified as a designated position under the Air Force Drug Testing Plan. Incumbent(s) of this position is/are subject to the possibility of a random drug test.
  • Subject to duty position evaluation on a pass/fail standard in accordance with AFI 36-2646, Security Forces Training and Standardization Evaluation Programs.
  • Creditable Service for Annual Leave accrual may be granted to new employees if he/she possesses superior qualifications essential to the position; and which were acquired through performance in a non-federal or active duty uniformed service position.
  • The duties performed in a non-federal or active duty uniformed service position must directly relate to the position to which appointed and such qualifications are necessary to achieve an important agency mission or performance goal to be eligible.
  • United States Citizenship is required.
  • Pre-employment favorable background check/investigation must be accomplished prior to confirmation of employment.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position

  • Appointments of retired members of the Armed Forces as National Guard employees within 180 days of retirement requires a waiver approved by the Adjutant General of Missouri before an effective date can be established.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Must possess qualifying general experience that includes experience in administrative, clerical, technical, or military work that involved protecting property, equipment, data, or materials; or that involved making judgments based on the application of directions, rules, regulations, or laws.



GS-07 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that provided you with knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property; conducting routine foot and/or vehicle patrols; responding to routine and emergency calls for police assistance; issuing traffic citations; questioning individuals at the scene of a crime; informing individuals about their rights as suspects; subduing unruly individuals; and preparing written reports involving criminal and/or civil offenses. This specialized experience must also include knowledge of firearms and tactics for employment in emergency situations as well as the safe handling of explosives during training. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills.



LAUTENBERG AGREEMENT: These positions authorize the incumbents to carry a firearm. Any person who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence cannot lawfully possess a firearm or ammunition (Title 18, U.S.C., Section 922(g) (91)). Candidates who have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not qualified for this position. Candidates under consideration will be required to certify whether they have ever been convicted of such an offense. c. Qualified: The numeric value group normally ranges from 70-79 points. This lowest group is for those candidates who meet the minimum qualifications of the position and are proficient in some, but not all, of the requirements of the position.
