• Review customer material needs and process requirements; recommend and specify the use of existing compounds and adhesives/metal treatment for new business opportunities (quote inquiries); recommend the development of materials and processes to win new business.
• Participate in cross-functional team activities in the development of new prototype and production products, processes and equipment; provide technical assistance to other FNST facilities, as required.
• Provide technical problem solving/troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities for production materials and processes, utilizing the tools of Six Sigma, where applicable.
• Communicate and coordinate project activities including documentation of results.
• Stay abreast of the latest materials and process technologies and industry trends; recommend and initiate new technology for FNST competitive advantage and market share.
• Provide technical support in identifying and addressing regulatory restrictions of chemicals and subsequent development of alternative materials.
• Maintain adherence to Company policies, safety/ergonomic standards and good housekeeping practices.
• Understand and implement the health, safety, and environmental policies and to integrate health, safety, and environmental considerations into daily work activities.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science or Mechanical Engineering is required. Experience in rubber processing technology or polymer chemistry in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Understanding of standardized material testing procedures (ASTM, DIN, JIS, and ISO) is required. Knowledge of elastomer types, processing requirements and rubber adhesion processing is a plus.
• Experience in engineering/statistical problem solving methods is required. Six Sigma Green Belt certification is a plus.
• Ability to clearly understand engineering drawings, tool designs, tool maintenance and press mechanics is a plus.
• Good analytical skills are required along with good human relations and communications skills.
• Must demonstrate personal competencies as defined in the experienced professional competency profile.
