Job Description: Preferred Qualifications: TD Securities is looking for a broker-dealer accountant to join its Product Control division in New York City. Associate - TDS Finance - U.S. - Controller function for TD's U.S. Wholesale entities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the team's effort in accurate and timely reporting of its IFRS and GAAP books and records and regulatory filings for its U.S. broker-dealers as well as non broker dealers. Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the daily P&L process across the different areas of Equity Markets.
- Assist in the coordination, preparation and management of our timely month end close.
- Review month end balance sheet & income statement for respective product areas ensuring reconciliations are accurate with respect to correct GAAP & regulatory treatment.
- Liaise with all external & internal audit counterparts as well as operations and financial operations teams. Responsible for efficiently driving audits to completion.
- Analyze financial information with a key focus on control and addressing new requirements, including new reporting.
- Assist with the integration planning and implementation as TD Cowen looks to fully integrate with TDS.
- Help implement new P&L attribution reporting.
- Assist with the controls over intercompany activity across TDS entities.
- Prepare and hold monthly meetings with the Equities Business.
- Provide Commentary to Legal Entity, FP&A and Regulatory Controllers on P&L and Balance Sheet variances.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in accounting/finance
- 2+ year post undergraduate experience preferred
- Organized, detail oriented and self-motivated individual with strong analytical skills
- Basic knowledge of derivatives
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel
- knowledge of subledger systems (BPS/Impact) a plus.
- Ability to work within deadlines while still providing a high-quality work product
The Senior Finance Analyst TDS provides planning, forecasting, reporting and financial analysis support for assigned line(s) of business and/or at the total segment level under the guidance of financial management. In addition, the Senior Financial Analyst TDS provides highly specialized financial consulting and analytical support at the assigned line(s) of business or total segment level identifying key emerging financial trends, measurement of key performance metrics and success factors, line of business and total segment financial target setting and measurement, capital budget and key initiative evaluation and planning, cost and product profitability analyses, specialized reporting and support for special projects.
Depth & Scope: - Conducts complex analysis as it applies to area of responsibility
- Understands the whole financial function and the key business areas supported
- Focus is on one or more components of results that have greater complexity (e.g., Expenses, Revenue, and Volumes) or on complete results for a single line of business
- Makes trade and CRA investment decisions on a monthly basis
- Leads activities of unit, assigning, prioritizing and monitoring work and provides training and mentoring for new and less experienced staff
- Resolves escalated issues and problems by conferring with staff
- Provides financial, analytical, planning, and forecasting expertise to assist in the development and completion of projects
- Develops specialized analytical tools for project or ongoing use and may also develop conclusions and courses of action to rectify discrepancies as well as analyses
- Provides cost and product analyses and develops analyses of performance and predictive data
- Compiles and generates ad-hoc analytical reports
- Develops financial analytical and forecasting models to test assumptions and predict results of business initiatives
- Researches and reviews details of business operating metrics and actively seeks to identify and promote new opportunities or products
Education & Experience: - Bachelor degree in Business/Accounting/Financial Management (accounting designation is preferred but not required)
